MORE: Members of the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to host the 4th annual Alamo City Electrathon (ACE) Race at the Alamodome. Event Sponsors and academic partners have joined the South Chamber in their mission to raise awareness and support workforce development programming in schools.
Before students hit the track, each vehicle will undergo a series of inspections to ensure it is safe to race. In addition to each school participating in the stock car competition, schools can also have fielded cars in the open car category, allowing them to custom build a vehicle. The vehicles compete in two heats. The 60-minute heats are held on a closed course to see who can run the most laps using only 1,000 Watt-hours of electricity.
Participants in the 2019 race included: Boerne, East Central, Edgewood, Floresville, Harlandale, Lytle, Northside, Palo Alto College, St. Phillips College, Somerset, South San, Southside, Southwest.
